An interview with our new employee: Tash Hilton
Two weeks ago our new employee, Tash Hilton started here with us at e-BAS Accounts. Tash is our assistant bookkeeper and is responsible for helping the practice principal, Louise with basic bookkeeping tasks, general administration and also updating our social media channels on a daily basis. So far Tash has proven to have loads of initiative and is certainly a fast learner! Since beginning here, the e-BAS office has certainly become brighter and happier with many a giggle being had between us all ?.
So you can get to know Tash just a little better, I interviewed her recently and have shared her answers below. Enjoy!
Where were you born?
I was born at the Cabrini hospital in Malvern, Victoria.
Tell us about your childhood family? Brothers and sisters etc?
I grew up in Elsternwick, Victoria. I have a younger sister who is 34 and an even younger half sister who is 13.
What is your favourite childhood memory?
When my Dad bought me the ‘Hansa Supermarket’. It was orange plastic with shelves. You walked in between the shelves to serve. It had a clock and came with miniature groceries that were identical to supermarket lines i.e Milo, Arnotts Biscuits, Cornflakes etc. It had a cash register as well of course and I absolutely loved it!
Which high school did you go to?
I most recently (in 2012) went to Elwood Secondary College. I actually attended 14 schools from prep until I left school in year 11.
What were your interests as a teenager?
I liked cooking with my Grandmother, going to concerts, hanging out with my friends, getting up to no good no doubt lol!
When you were young what did you want to be?
How did you meet your husband?
I met him at a pool hall in Nunawading, Victoria called the ‘Matchroom’. I was the Bar Manager there and he came in one night to meet his sister for a game of pool. The Matchroom has since closed down. That was nearly 18 years ago & the rest as they say, is history…
Tell us about your children
I have a daughter who is 10, going on 21…… and a 5 year old son who is a Richmond Football Club mad fanatic!
Where do you live now?
I live in Grovedale, Geelong. I moved to Geelong with my husband in 2003 from the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
What makes you the happiest?
When I’m with my family, walking on the beach, kicking the footy etc.
What do you dislike most about the world we live in?
Child abuse, animal cruelty & domestic violence.
What sorts of jobs have you had before working here at e-BAS Accounts?
I have worked in a bakery, a supermarket, a Deli, had admin roles, a Nanny, Hospitality and as an Employment Consultant.
Have you travelled and if so where did you go?
I went to Greece with my dad when I was 7 with a stopover in Bangkok. When I got there I couldn’t speak a lick of Greek. When I got back 8 weeks later, I couldn’t speak a lick of English!
In 2003 I went to England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales and most recently I have been to Bali in 2013 & 2014 and am going back in September 2015.
What are your hopes for your future?
Just to be healthy & happy.
Tell us something you’ve done of which you are really proud?
I’m most proud of my children and the happy, polite, empathetic and humorous beings that they are!
Tell us about the silliest thing that has ever happened to you.
I was making a cake with my grandmother one day and had quite a long ponytail which got caught up in the beaters of the mix master. My head was literally in the bowl. It took a very long time to unravel it so it didn’t need to be cut off. As a side note, that story years later won me a baking competition in Taste Magazine where I got a massive box of everything you can imagine for baking.
Tell us about something no one knows about you.
I think I’m a little bit Psychic.
Tell us about your experience as an employee so far at e-BAS Accounts.
Numbers have never been my forte but I have loved learning new things in a relaxed environment where I also get the pleasure of patting 2 cute doggies whenever they will let me!
What are you hoping to achieve as an employee of e-BAS Accounts?
I hoping to learn as much as I can so as to assist Louise as best I can so she is able to grow an even more successful business.
So there you have it – just a little bit about Tash, our newest recruit! Tash may just answer the phone when you next call our office and if she does, be sure to make her feel welcome. We are so happy she is here with us – she is a real blessing! ?
